Hi bloggers, you are probably thinking. "What is this thing?". It's the potoo, the masters of hide-and-seek. Well, when its eyes are closed. Their feathers are meant to blend in the environment pretending to be a branch. They would sit on a branch and sit very still, even if the preditor is dangerously close they would continue sitting still. These birds can grow up to 48-60 cm tall and weigh 360-650 g. The population of the potoo is unknown for unknown reasons. Potoos live in the center of South America. They usually eat beetles but can eat moths, grasshoppers and termites. Thanks for taking the time to look at my blog, please comment and I'll see you later.

Wow! What a crazy looking bird. When in danger, all it would need to do is open its eyes. The predator would fall over laughing!
ReplyDeleteI love your blogs. They are informative and interesting. Oh and I spelt predator wrong too...until I saw the red squiggly line underneath.
Hi dad,
DeleteI don't think the predators would be laughing if the potoo opened their eyes. I don't think animals are as humorous as we are. When I showed this to my freinds, their reaction was either laughing on the floor or questioning its existence. Mrs Taylor thought it looked crazy. Hana thought it was a portrait of herself. Do you think the class should study about this bird?

Hi Mika
ReplyDeleteI'm Kaia from Kawakawa Primary School. I really didn't know what a Potoo was until i red this. Is a Potoo like a owl or is it a different type of bird. I really like the way that you added the pictures to add your writing.
