The crazy POTOO!

Hi bloggers, you are probably thinking. "What is this thing?". It's the potoo, the masters of hide-and-seek. Well, when its eyes are closed. Their feathers are meant to blend in the environment pretending to be a branch. They would sit on a branch and sit very still, even if the preditor is dangerously close they would continue sitting still. These birds can grow up to 48-60 cm tall and weigh 360-650 g. The population of the potoo is unknown for unknown reasons. Potoos live in the center of South America. They usually eat beetles but can eat moths, grasshoppers and termites. Coal is More Radioactive Than Nuclear Waste!

Hi Bloggers, most people would agree that nuclear waste is pretty radioactive. Believe it or not, coal ash is more radioactive than nuclear waste! When coal burns in power plants to create energy, the waste that is left is called fly ash. Before coal is burned, it has traces of uranium and thorium (that are radioactive elements). After becoming fly ash, the elements increases 10 times their original level. It becomes a big problem around the power plant. The fly ash leaches into water and soil around plants, which affect all the crops around the area.  

I'm cutting this short because throwing scientific facts for a long time would lose your interest. So I hope you learned something or at least enjoyed it. Have you ever used coal to make a fire? And if you did, will you now stop? Bye! 

Stuck in the Ocean

What you are looking at now took me a night to complete! I recreated a scene in a book called REFUGEE. It's a very cool book. It is about 3 kids in different places trying to escape from the war. The boy is Mahmoud and his mum, Mahmoud is one of the 3 kids trying to escape from the war with his family. Spoiler alert, Mahmoud and his family were escaping to Germany with some other refugees. A storm came and everyone fell out of the boat. 

You may be wondering why the scene isn't stormy like I just told you. Well, Mahmoud found another boat with refugees but they didn't have any room so they can't go in the boat except for his baby Hana. Oh, I forgot to mention Hana was with them. Mahmoud's mum gave Hana to a stranger and Mahmoud cried to sleep and woke up in the middle of the night. Okay, that was a mouth full if someone stopped reading by now I can understand. If Shoes Can Talk...

Hi Bloggers! Today, I wrote a story in 10 minutes. My teacher picked a topic about a diary written by a shoe... I sometimes wonder how my teachers get these ideas from. Anyway, I can write 150 words in 10 minutes. Yah, it might be slow but at least I do maths quickly. Here is the story that I wrote in 10 minutes. 

Hi Diary, you won’t believe what my owner just did. He lost me! Like I was just some sort of rubbish! Why did it have to be me?! He didn’t loose left! Just me! And guess what!? It was raining last night! So I was cold and wet! And a wet stinking dog bit me and threw me around like I was his toy! I was 100 dollars! Well, actually 50 because I wasn’t with the other shoe but still! Oh don’t worry, my owner found me. At like 7 pm! Come on! It’s like he doesn’t care about me! Why can’t I be his sister’s shoes? She always neatly put them away, never loses them and if she gets her shoes wet which she rarely does! She would wash them, with soap! I need a rest! Bye Diary! (Slams it shut)

Hi Diary, you know how I said yesterday how I want to be his sister’s shoes? Well, he gave us to his sister! I’m so excited! She’s amazing! It’s like I’m in a five-star hotel! It’s just amazing. Pure amazing. Sorry, I have to close this short but my new owner is going to use me soon. Bye. (Gently closes diary)

Air Pollution

Today, I have been researching about air pollution. I've been researching about how it affects the world. What is air pollution like in your place? This would be very helpful if at least one person talks about their experience with air pollution. Anyway, here are some facts I've learned about air pollution and other things I found interesting.

• Air pollution can cause global warming.
• People think air pollution is caused by farting cows.
• Burning plastic releases different types of dioxides that are harmful to the human body.
• Hair sprays from the 1900s almost destroyed the ozone layer.
• Plastic buried can make the ground toxic and damage trees (trees create oxygen)
• Smoke contains nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and mostly water vapor.
